About You

In order to succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Experience leading and managing development teams
  • Strong organisational leadership skills
  • Extensive experience of working with stakeholders to create hiring strategies
  • An interest in agile processes, and getting teams working effectively

What you will be doing?

You will be an integral part of the engineering management team, able to provide considered and useful advice on technical matters, and deputizing for the CTO where required. In particular you will play your part in driving forward scalability, uptime and reliability as we rapidly build our customer base

You will lead and manage the development teams within Recast, taking responsibility for building a productive, inclusive and happy development function. Specifically for developers and QA engineers you will be responsible for:

  • Hiring, onboarding and management of probation for new joiners
  • Line and performance management
  • Career progression and compensation
  • Planning and agreeing budgets, and managing the team within them

In doing this we anticipate that you will deliver competency matrices, procedures and interview formats which can be used as appropriate across the engineering team and the wider organization.

You will work with other stakeholders to build and maintain the agile delivery process followed by development teams. You will ensure that this process allows teams to be productive and deliver quality features which maximise value to organisation.

What skills will you need?

  • This role would ideally suit somebody with a history of working as a developer or tester
  • Minimum of around 2 years of experience in a technology management role, acting as a line manager and being exposed to career progression and team performance planning
  • A passion for delivering great products
  • Compassion, and a sense of responsibility for the team
  • Experience working, and ideally managing, on a high-volume rapid-growth product

If you are missing some of the skills or knowledge listed, but you are generally a good fit, please apply anyway. Tell us where you are strong and where you might need help or time to learn.

All team communications and documentation are in English, so you will need to speak and write English to a professional standard. You will need to communicate effectively within the technical team and across the wider business.
